Drop‐weight testing of slender reinforced concrete beams

چکیده
The work presented herein sets out to investigate experimentally, via drop-weight testing, the behavior of slender reinforced concrete (RC) beam specimens under impact loading. During each specimen is established through combined use conventional instrumentation and a high-speed video camera. primary objective this reasons that trigger observed shift in (compared from static tests) with increasing levels applied loading rate intensity. Analysis test data reveals during testing only portion element span reacts load (as indicated by deformation cracking profiles recorded) which turn affects mechanics underlying therefore, significantly influencing mode failure ultimately exhibited. localized response becomes more prominent intensity imposed In addition above, strain-rate sensitivity material properties does not appear have significant effect on tested. aforementioned observations be conflict current design practice raising questions concerning effectives solutions produced.

Shear Strength of Slender Reinforced Concrete Beams without Web Reinforcement
This paper attempt to predict the shear strength of high strength concrete beam with different shear span of depth ratio without web reinforcement. The large data base available has been clustered and a linear equation analysis has been performed . The prepared models are functions of compressive strength , percentage of flexural reinforcement and depth of beam. The proposed models have been va...
متن کاملFlexural Testing of High Strength Reinforced Concrete Beams Strengthened with CFRP Sheets
The objective of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of externally bonded CFRP sheets to increase the flexural strength of reinforced high strength concrete (HSC) beams. Four-point bending flexural tests to complete failure on six concrete beams, strengthened with different layouts of CFRP sheets were conducted. Three-dimensional nonlinear finite element (FE) models were adopted by A...
متن کاملReliability evaluation of reinforced concrete beams
The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the time-invariant reliability of reinforced concrete beams designed under the provisions of the ACI Building Code. A wide range of practical design situations is considered. The beams are subjected to bending, shear, and torsion. The interaction between shear and torsion is considered via an elliptical failure surface defined in the shear-torsion stress...
